Profile & Professional Experience

Robertwas called to the Bar in 1996 and is a member of Gray’s Inn. Before practicing at the Bar, Robert worked for several years as an institutional fund manager for a major UK Insurance Company with several billion pounds under management and later as an investment banker. He would regularly meet senior board members of plcs and be involved in company decisions at the highest level. The intricate understanding and knowledge he gained of the commercial world, financial markets, company accounts and market regulation gives him an unrivalled background for his practice areas. He regularly appears in court at all levels. He is a chartered fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment and a member of the Revenue Bar Association.

Tax
Robert covers all the direct taxes and has advised on a variety of issues particularly for private clients and trusts. He also advises on company share schemes and the like. He has experience of several appeals.

Chancery
He regularly advises (as well as drafting) on all trust matters. Recent advice includes breach of trust and the merger of trusts as well as the effect and interpretation of clauses in wills.

Commercial
Robert undertakes a wide variety of commercial cases and has often acted successfully against the Banks in a variety of case. At present, he has a particular interest in the alleged mis-selling of derivative products by the Banks. He has regularly advised on and appeared in insolvency and company law cases. Holiday and travel-Robert regularly advises and appears in court in this growing practice area.

Other Civil
Robert regularly appears in court on a variety of cases including negligence (particularly involving Road Traffic Accidents), credit hire and Landlord and Tenant. He has vast experience of possession actions. He regularly advises on quantum for PI claims.
